Nigeria: Cup of Nations champions are “broke”

The Super Eagles are to halve pay for staff and players.

The Nigerian Football Association is facing severe financial difficulties and is withdrawing from the 2014 African Cup of Nations championships, according to reports.

Nigeria are the current ACN champions, having beaten Burkina Faso in February to claim their third championship title. However, that glory has been shortlived, with Nigeria reportedly set to halve the pay of its players and staff and withhold bonuses.
